Antonia Lofaso
Antonia Lofaso's cuisine can be a way to investigate the depths of her cooking. Food that she cooks is a source of interest that was born from the moment she stepped out of the suburban areas of Long Island and into the multicultural environment that is Los Angeles. The belief that cavatelli and carnitas could coexist in harmony on a single menu conveys a sensibility which is constantly evolving. What remains is her singular view of the future, while longingly recalling the past. Scopa Italian Roots was opened in 2013 by Lofaso who was influenced with her Italian American heritage. The restaurant received the warmest welcome. The restaurant's take on old-school Italian is hailed for being among the most compelling eateries for Italian cooking within Los Angeles. The food at Lofaso is always genuine, warm and delicious. Lofaso studied under some of the most renowned chefs and mastered their methods, yet she was not scared to challenge her intuitions. She worked with a variety of famous people and quickly rose through the ranks in Wolfgang Puck's Spago. Lofaso along with Sal Aurora partnered in 2011 to create Black Market Liquor Bar Studio City. Lofaso found her place in Black Market, and through the alliances she made. Lofaso was able to achieve her dream of creativity by working with her. Black Market's intention is to not be constrained by any means. The first course could be chip dill, followed by shishitos peppers. Then comes the Korean wing and finally meatballs.
