Nadia Elena Comaneci
At the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, the athlete became an international sensation after scoring the first perfect ten in the world of sports. To add to that, she went to score another six perfect 10s thereby becoming the youngest all-around Olympic gold medalist only 14 years old age. The accomplishment of Nadia Comaneci was not only to attract attention from all over the world, she also brought Romania onto the map. Her achievement of a score that was unattainable made this sports icon famous and popularized gymnastics in all over the world. People's view of female athletes also changed due to her performances. Her performance during the Olympics is so significant that her toe step (release) as well as the toe step were both named after her in the uneven bars event. Aside from the Olympics she also was a star at World Championships and European Championships. Her performance have made her one of the best gymnasts of all time. In the US she tried to promote sports products and model following her departure from her home country.
